Michelle O'Hala comes to Orangetheory Fitness with over 6 years of experience in the health & fitness field. She graduated from Springfield College receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Exercise Science. Michelle comes to us with experience teaching many different group exercise formats including trampoline bootcamp, small group training, and personal training as well. Michelle’s classes at OTF are full of energy, enthusiasm & motivation as she believes fitness should be fun & enjoyable, but also challenging for each member. You can always count on hearing her ask for just a little more from you, “can you hit that plus sign on your treadmill one more time?!” Michelle's love for exercise started by playing volleyball for 7 years and rugby for 4 years. As an exercise enthusiast now, Michelle enjoys strength training & running, having completed multiple half marathons and 5K's. Some of Michelle’s fitness mottos are: “Get comfortable with being uncomfortable”, “Workout because you love your body, not because you hate it.” If you ever have any questions or feedback regarding the classes here at Orangetheory West Hartford, please feel free to reach out to Michelle, she wants to help make your experiences with OTF as beneficial to you as possible!

Spencer comes to Orangetheory with 6 years of experience training clients in a variety of exercise disciplines and sports. After a successful high school career in both wrestling and rowing, Spencer became an assistant wrestling coach & rowing coach at Simsbury High school, as well as a youth wrestling coach. Spencer also has experience working as an MMA strength and conditioning coach. Spencer stays active by competing in both obstacle course racing and powerlifting. As a lifter, Spencer has competed in USPLA competitions, taking first place in the 2016 Naturally Hardcore Powerlifting meet in his weight class. Spencer also works as a freelance writer, writing pop culture articles, as well as hosting a podcast focusing on horror themed comics. Spencer writes short stories and screenplays in his free time. Spencer is an avid musical record collector, seeking out movie soundtracks on vinyl.
Barb always had a love for fitness and sports. When she was younger she played soccer, ran track and was a cheerleader. When she wasn't playing with her teammates, she was hanging out with her friends playing football and roller skating. As she grew, her love for roller skating grew into playing roller derby. After spending 11 years as a graphic designer in the advertising field, she wanted to pursue a career as a Personal Trainer to help motivate others to reach their personal fitness goals. Barb attended Branford Hall Career Institute to become a Personal Trainer. Barb comes to Orangetheory with experience in small group training & group exercise instruction. When Barb isn't motivating others she loves spending time with her husband Shawn, son Carmen and step-daughters Katherine and Jessica and their dog JoJo.

HEART MONITORED TRAINING

 

Backed by the science of post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC), our heart-rate monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Our clients burn an estimated 500 to 1000 calories per workout. We are 5 zone heart-rate interval training.

Working out in a group provides accountability and structure to help achieve fitness goals. You are more likely to get a great workout and better results from the well-rounded movements and pace direction you get in a group setting. The session motivates each other to pick up the pace and reach beyond plateaus. People who workout in groups stick to their goals more consistently than those that workout alone.
